The Book Vault’s monthly book group discussed the book, “The Little Paris Bookshop”, by Nina George, for it’s Aug. read. The critics raved about this book!
The book elicited mostly neutral comments from our group, “it was a light read about life, love, friendship, and books”. There were also many good quotes in the book about life, death, and friendship.
But 2 of our members did not like the book. One actually “despised” the book. She didn’t like the main premise of the book that the main character of the story, the book seller, did not read the good-bye letter from his lover for over 20 years. The rest of us agreed that this did seem strange, but that there would be no story without that premise.
For our Sept. read we chose the book, ” It’s a Long Story:My Life”, by Willie Nelson. “One of the most beloved popular musicians of our time tells the story of his extraordinary life.” This book is available at the local libraries, and at bookstores and online.
